Art Submissions

Send us an email with a few jpegs of your artwork, or direct us to your website, if you have one. Email submissions only, please. There is no fee for art submissions.

If we decide to use your artwork, it will appear on the website and also on the cover of the anthology. We pay a flat fee of $10 and a copy of the anthology.

FICTION SUBMISSIONS

There are two ways to submit your work...

Online Submission
For a fee of $2.50 (about what you would pay for paper, envelopes and postage) you can use our online submission form. It’s quick and convenient and it saves paper and trips to the post office. Plus, the fee helps us to pay the writers and artists whose work we publish. Submit a story now.

Mailed Submission
There is no fee for paper submissions. Send your manuscript via regular mail to:

Before submitting your work, please read the guidelines below.

NEEDS: We are looking for well-crafted speculative fiction including but not limited to science fiction, fantasy, magical realism, and surrealism. We are especially attracted to stories that are on the literary side and that don’t fit comfortably within the usual genre boundaries. The best way to learn what we like is by reading the stories we’ve already published.

REPRINTS: Although we prefer to publish stories for the first time, we will consider reprints, but please let us know when you submit that your story has been published before.

SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS: We will accept simultaneous submissions, but contact us immediately if your story is accepted elsewhere.

MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS: We don’t accept multiple submissions. Please send only one story at a time, and wait until you hear back from us before you send another one. We might make an exception in the case of flash fiction, but query first.

STORY LENGTH: Stories can be any length up to 6000 words. If you have a great story that runs a little longer, please query before sending it.

FORMAT : Please use standard manuscript format: double spaced, numbered pages, black 12 point type, no fancy fonts. On the first page, be sure to include your name and address, telephone number, email address and an estimated word count. If you are submitting by regular mail, do not bind or staple your manuscript. Send it flat in an appropriate size envelope and be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope with adequate postage if you want it returned, or you can indicate that it is disposable and include a letter sized SASE or email address for our reply.

RESPONSE TIME: 4 – 8 weeks.

PAYMENT: $10 and a copy of the print anthology.
